A brave, adventurous bird for the new Hasselblad Foundation identity, a symbol to house the two different branches of the foundation whos primary aim is to promote education and research in the field of photography and natural sciences.
The Hasselblad foundation's annual photography prize is considered to be one of the world's most prestigious awards in photography.
Victor Hasselblad who together with his wife Erna established the Hasselblad foundation in 1979 had a strong interest in the natural history of birds and was also an avid bird photographer. Victor Hasselblad published his first book about birds In 1935, Flyttfågelstråk (The flight of migratory birds) illustrated by his own photos. His interest in bird photography continued with more books and exhibitions.
